Good news for Belleville’s downtown businesses, and for motorists. The Front Street construction site is re-opening to motorists Thursday morning.
City officials have announced that construction is nearing completion on the section of Front from Bridge Street to Victoria Avenue, and now major construction will move on to Victoria itself.
Some work will continue on Front as the contractor finishes landscaping, street lighting and sidewalks, and at some times traffic may be limited to alternating single lanes.
Capital Projects Coordinator Dana Barnett says construction on Victoria Avenue will begin immediately.
Barnett says traffic on Victoria between Front and Pinnacle will be limited to local traffic only, and accessed from Pinnacle only.
She encourages pedestrians to use the area.
