A Military Resource Centre and a day care nursery are in the plans for Belleville’s east end.
Plans had been announced earlier in the year by the Trenton Military Family Resource Centre for a satellite in Belleville.
Tuesday night, Rentx Realties had a rezoning application before Belleville’s planning advisory committee for the centre and a day care centre at 610 Dundas Street East.
Owner Bernie Ouellet.
Ouellet says he expects renovations to begin soon with the nursery and the Resource Centre sharing the space equally. The day care will serve 49 children and will be open to the Resource Centre families and the general public.
The committee is recommending that city council approve the rezoning.
Ouelett says both developments could be ready in January if the rezoning is approved.
Jack Ellis Way
A first step in the naming of a Belleville street after former mayor and local Member of Parliament Jack Ellis.
Last night, the planning advisory committee approved a request by developers, Jenland Properties, to name a road, yet to be built, “Jack Ellis Way”.
The late Jack Ellis was mayor of Belleville from 1964 to 1967 and was Prince-Edward Hastings MP from 1972 to 1988.
Jenland Properties will create 8 smaller lots for development running north of Bell Boulevard, east of Hannafin Road.
The issue now goes to city council for final approval.
