Tweed is looking to the province to help with a speeding problem in the town.
According to the chair of the public works committee the speeding problem is mainly caused by out-of-town traffic making its way through the town on Highway 37.
Councillor Jim Flieler says the municipality has tried to deal with the issue a number of ways.
There have been a couple of major accidents on Victoria Street which is the connecting street with the highway.
At present, the speed limit on Highway 37 changes down from 80 kilometres an hour to 70 before reaching the town limits, where it changes to 50 kilometres.
Flieler hopes the Ministry of Transportation will agree to cut down the speed limit from 80 kilometres earlier, long before the highway gets to Tweed.
He expects to meet with ministry officials in a couple of weeks.
