Centre Hastings Councillors spent some time discussing a formal complaint made against the municipality Wednesday night.
The complaint, from a pair of residents, revolves around a council decision in the late spring to provide some money to the Moira Lake Property Association for work on private roads over the next three years.
Centre Hastings Mayor Tom Deline tells Quinte News, it was a unanimous council decision to contribute to the road work, since most of it was needed to address some major public safety issues.
And Deline says, after meeting with the two complainants, it’s clear that council hasn’t broken any rules.
The complainants had requested that council stop the program, which would see up to $5,000 contributed this year this year, $5,500 next year and up to $6,000 the following year, but council has decided to address the issue come budget-time next year.
Deline added that a lot of other municipalities have similar programs as well and some of them are actually more expensive.
