On Sunday, August 28, 2016, at approximately 10:30 p.m. Ontario Provincial Police – Central Hastings Detachment were contacted regarding a missing swimmer from a festival taking place at Trudeau Park in Tweed.
It was reported that at approximately 4:00 p.m. numerous swimmers were at the beach shortly before it was closed due to an incoming thunderstorm. One man swimming with friends was approximately 20 feet from shore when he went under the water and never resurfaced.
Members of the Central Hastings OPP Detachment and Central Hastings OPP Crime Unit were involved in the investigation. With the assistance of the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit the body of 21 year old Saad SALMAN of Mississauga, ON was recovered from the water.
The coroner attended the scene and subsequently pronounced the male deceased.
A Post Mortem examination will be conducted on August 30th, 2016.
