It is all good news coming out of a visit to Trenton, by the provincial Minister of Health, Dr. Eric Hoskins.
Speaking to a crowd at Trenton Memorial Hospital during the lunch hour, Hoskins announced that no surgeries will be moving from Trenton to Belleville and that the government will also make a significant financial commitment to the creation of a health hub at TMH.
That financial commitment would include $6 million for capital costs and another $200,000 for design and other expenses.
The Our TMH group had fought hard to get exactly this result and Co-Chair John Smylie tells Quinte News it’s a huge accomplishment.
Health Minister Hoskins tells Quinte News they will invest $6 million for the hub going forward.
MPP Lou Rinaldi was given a standing ovation by the crowd for his efforts, but says it is not about him.
Once complete, that facility would house the Brighton and Quinte West Family Medical Centre and other healthcare providers, although exact details of what services will be included haven’t been released.
