The quick actions of the YMCA staff in Trenton and patrons saved a man’s life following a car fire Friday afternoon.
Quinte West Fire Chief John Whalen says staff noticed a car on fire in a park area on Monogram Place around 12:45 p.m. and called 911.
They ran over to find a man slumped over in his seat, said to be incoherent. Whalen says they pulled the man out of the burning car.
It’s believed he suffered from a medical issue and was immediately transported to Trenton Memorial Hospital.
Whalen says due to the dry condition of the grass – the fire quickly spread burning two acres of grass.
OPP have taken over the investigation.
