The Municipality of Centre Hastings is following suit with other Quinte towns and is urging all of its residents to conserve more water.
Mayor Tom Deline says they’re asking residents to cut back water usage by 50%, as a Level 3 Low Water Condition continues in the Quinte Conservation watershed.
Deline says the voluntary consumption request is an attempt to avoid an all out water ban and that the municipality will be doing the same.
He says the town’s swimming pool will close early this year, splash pad hours will be reduced and restrictions will be put on washing municipal vehicles as well.
Municipal staff will continue to monitor the situation and will make changes and updates as needed.
