Belleville’s mayor has a couple of city concerns in mind has he heads to the annual conference of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario in Windsor this weekend.
This conference gives municipal leaders an opportunity to meet with provincial cabinet ministers or their representatives.
The Belleville delegation of Mayor Taso Christopher, Councillor Paul Carr and senior staff members will have a chance to express concerns to the parliamentary secretary to the minister of energy.
Mayor Christopher says he will raise the issue of the possibility of Veridian buying out the Hydro One service in Thurlow Ward.
They will also meet with the minister responsible for municipal funding applications, Agriculture Minister Jeff Leal, regarding the process, which Christopher calls “old and barbaric.”
The conference runs Sunday to Wednesday.
