Concerns have been raised about a developer’s plan to include houses without garages in a subdivision in Belleville’s west end.
The city’s planning committee had before it Phase 6 of the Potter’s Creek subdivision with 110 units, some of which will have no garages.
Area resident Susan Sayers told the committee this would make the area look “junky” and would be a “discredit to Belleville.”
Councillor Jack Miller also expressed concern.
Director of engineering Rod Bovay pointed out the city cannot force someone to build a garage and the units will be geared to empty-nesters downsizing.
The committee recommends city council approve the plan.
