(QUINTE WEST, ON) – On July 30th, 2016, at approximately 5:20 p.m. officers from the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a motor vehicle on Old Highway 2 in Bayside that was being driven in an erratic manner.
After a brief roadside investigation it was determined that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by drug. Further investigation revealed that a quantity of drugs was also located in the vehicle which resulted in the passenger of the motor vehicle also being arrested.
Kevin Kenneth Lucas, 53, of Belleville has been charged with:
CC 253(1)(a) Driving While Ability Impaired – motor vehicle (Drug)
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of Trafficking — marijuana
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – hydromorphone
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking — N-methyl-3,4-methylenedioxy-amphetamine (Ecstasy)
Michael MONTGOMERY, 36, of Belleville has been charged with:
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of Trafficking — marijuana
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – hydromorphone
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking — N-methyl-3,4-methylenedioxy-amphetamine (Ecstasy)
In addition to drugs being seized, officers also seized a quantity of cash as well as other drug paraphernalia.
The accused were both released from custody with a Promise to Appear and are to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, 15 Bridge Street East, Belleville on August 25th, 2016.
