The Belleville Bulldogs Rugby team will take part in a memorial tribute for a well-known Rugby player who died Friday.
Gerry Veit, a member of the Bytown Blues Rugby Football Club in Ottawa, collapsed of an apparent heart attack during a tournament match in Saranac Lake, N.Y., west of Lake Placid.
Veit would later pass away in hospital. He was in his 50s.
The Bulldogs were playing on the field next to the Blues when the incident happened.
Veit was a popular player in the Ottawa area for years and many members of the Bulldogs men’s teams all knew him well.
The tribute will happen later today (Sunday).
