The Scott Firefit Southern Ontario, minus the GTA,Championships are well underway at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre in Belleville.
Hundreds of people filled the stands around the Firefit course watching firefighters from over a dozen fire departments compete in what’s called “the toughest 2 minutes in sports.”
At the opening ceremonies this morning(Saturday), Prince Edward Hastings MPP Todd Smith talked about just how tough the event actually is.
Meanwhile, Bay of Quinte riding MP Neil Ellis also spoke.
Quinte West Senior Fire Prevention Officer Greg King was awarded his ring for winning the National Firefit Championship last year.
