New “Tim’s” takes next step
Coffee lovers in Brighton could be one step closer to getting a Tim Horton’s, if council goes along with the town’s planning committee.
At its meeting earlier this week, the Planning Committee gave the OK to a site plan, for the building of a new Tim Horton’s on Elizabeth Street.
The report suggests that original plans to install a sidewalk are somewhat impractical, so that won’t be done and some nearby light standards will be converted to LED bulbs, to address lighting issues around the shop.
Once council gives the OK, the builder will be clear to start construction, but there’s no exact start date just yet.
Council considering adding small arms range to community
It’s still in the early planning stages, but the town of Brighton could be getting a gun range.
The proposal, from WGT consulting, is to set up the small arms range on a plot of land at 780 Cameron Road, which would include 8 to 10, 25 metre firing lanes, along with a main building, storage areas and off-street parking.
The applicant says the range will be used for gun education, as well as competitions.
A report from Planning Consultant Darryl Tighe says staff have heard of high demand for a simliar facility and there could be sponsorship dollars available from national suppliers.
At this time CAO Bill Watson says if council approves this report the application would be considered “complete” and it’s up to councillors to debate the merits/drawbacks to the facility and move on from there.
