As we enjoy these sunny summer days, we’re being asked to give a thought, and some blood, for those not so lucky.
Canadian Blood Services officials say this is the most challenging time of year to collect blood.
Spokesperson Joanne Drake says it’s the time when it’s needed, often for accident victims.
#1 BLOOD DONOR
Drake says anyone 17-years or older can donate blood, “just a small pick of the finger and 10 minutes with the needle in place.”
She says 440 donors are needed in the Belleville area.
Drake says you give as much blood as would fill a pop can; women have five times that amount in their bodies and men have six times that amount.
Mix 97, CJBQ and Rock 107 have adopted the August 1 Holiday Monday blood donor clinic at the Fish and Game Club, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
