Correction: This story has been updated to reflect the fact Bill Request pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual interference and all other charges against him where withdrawn.
A four year federal prison term has been handed down to an 83-year-old Quinte West man on multiple sex crime convictions.
Earlier this year, Earl W. Redquest known as Bill had pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual interference. Multiple other charges were withdrawn.
The convictions stem from sexual interactions he had with three pre-teen Mennonite girls at their family home in 2015.
Redquest isolated the girls, promising them toys he had made.
Then he began hugging and kissing the two older girls but things escalated with the youngest. He asked her to touch his penis and he sexually assaulted her. He was stopped when he was caught by one of the girl’s family members.
He has previous sexual assault convictions from 1987.
Monday, Crown Lee Burgess said these incidents have had a great impact on the girls as it happened at their family home and he can’t describe what this has taken from them.
At the time of his arrest, Redquest said the girls were ‘promiscuous’ and he was ‘preparing them for future relationships’.
Candid remarks that didn’t bode well with Hunter who said it was ‘nonsense’ and called Redquest’s actions despicable.
Redquest must submit a sample to the national data bank, he’s on the sex offender registry for life, a 10 year weapons ban and can’t attend or work where children frequent.
“Mr. Redquest at your age a four year sentence in a federal prison is pretty close to a life sentence and you earned it,” Hunter said.
