Belleville City Council will be talking about homes with more than one kitchen at their meeting Monday.
Staff and council have been struggling with the issue of illegal second dwellings in homes.
A report before council will talk about building and fire code violations, along with concern about proper ventilation systems.
Staff’s recommending making second kitchens illegal, unless the single dwelling home has proper permits and upgrades.
Recently developer Mark Klemencic told city council he had plans for 50 homes with a second downstairs kitchen, eight of them already sold.
Council meets in open sessions at 4:00 p.m. Monday at city hall.
