The Prince Edward OPP has a new community safety officer.
Staff Sergeant Barry Freeburn Detachment Commander said he’s pleased to welcome Constable Connor Durkin to his new role.
Constable Durkin has been with the detachment for 16 years and takes the reins from outgoing CSO Constable Anthony Mann, who has since transitioned to Criminal Investigations.
Constable Durkin attended Ontario Police College in Aylmer before being posted. Following his tenure performing general law enforcement duties, Durkin was assigned to investigate property crimes, before spending five months as an Acting Sergeant. Following that role, he was a member of the Community Drug Action Team for two years.
Constable Durkin’s new role will focus on community mobilization, situation assessment and media relations.
He says he is excited to participate in forward thinking initiatives occurring in Prince Edward County.
“Prince Edward County has always been an independent community, with a strong community focus and I’m looking forward to working together with our partners in the community to make Prince Edward County an even safer place to live and visit,” he said.
Prince Edward County OPP would like to extend sincerest thanks to outgoing CSO Constable Anthony Mann.
“Anthony has left me some very big shoes to fill. I am looking forward to the challenge of continuing the succession of excellent officers that have served in my role before me,” said Constable Durkin.
