The Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte are speaking out to condemn an incident in Kingston on Canada Day, where protesters burned a Canadian flag.
Video of the incident went viral on social media after the masked protesters set the flag ablaze along Kingston’s Canada Day Parade route.
Images of the protesters also showed them waving a Mohawk flag, which caused some heated reactions from members of the public.
Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte Chief R. Donald Maracle says in a statement, the Tyendinaga Mohawk Council does not support the protesters’ disrespectful actions and that the group was in no way acting on behalf of the council.
