(TYENDINAGA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Sunday, July 3rd, 2016, at 8:09 p.m. officers with the Napanee detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a serious two vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and pick-up truck hauling a trailer on York Road in Tyendinaga Township.
Investigation revealed that the driver of a black motorcycle travelling northbound on York Road at a high rate of speed was unable to maintain control of the motorcycle after coming around a bend in the road. The motorcycle drifted off into the oncoming lane. The driver of a silver Ford F150 travelling southbound veered to the right to avoid the motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the side of a trailer being hauled by the pick-up truck.
Both occupants of the motorcycle, a 29 year-old male and 21 year-old female from Belleville, were ejected and rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
