Early on this morning, Belleville Police were on the chase for an erratic driver in the city.
Around 2:30, officers on Pinnacle Street near Bridge Street observed a southbound vehicle driving erratically passing them oncoming at high speed. The officers turned around and went on a short pursuit of the driver. The pursuit ended at Meyers Pier on South Front Street when the suspect crashed into a fire hydrant.
The driver was then arrested without further incident. There were no injuries.
A 22 year old man of Kanata, Ontario was later released on a Promise to Appear in Belleville Court on 21 July 2016. He is charged with dangerous driving, impaired operation of a motor vehicle and fleeing from Police.
