There’s been a bit of a building boom in Quinte West this year, at least according to the year-to-date revenues, collected from building permits.
To date last year, the city brought in about $445,000 in permit revenues, while this year, that’s shot up to almost $550,000.
Mayor Jim Harrison says there are a number of factors for the spike, but it’s mostly due to the number of homes being built.
But Harrison says, just because new houses are being built, doesn’t mean lots of new people are moving to the city.
Harrison says he’s pleased with all of the new developments and credited staff in the building department for their hard work in keeping up with the surge.
