Tempers flared briefly at a meeting of Prince Edward County council tonight (Tuesday).
The subject was a professional rodeo show coming to the fairgrounds in Picton next month.
The County Championship Rodeo is run by Rawhide Rodeo and sponsored by the Prince Edward County
Federation of Agriculture.
Annette McIntosh and Angela Lammes both cited ever increasing public distaste for rodeos because of what they called cruel treatment of animals and asked that council ban them.
Others, such as Larry Everall and Chris Adams, said that rodeos were strictly regulated and that people involved treated the animals like members of the family.
Council took no action.
The rodeo goes July 23 and 24.
