Bay of Quinte MP Neil Ellis is trying to get students in our riding closer to Parliament Hill and strengthen the connection between youth and government.
Yesterday, Ellis launched the Youth Engagement Program, which will organize fully-funded school trips to Ottawa.
Ellis says he’ll be extending the invitation to all interested schools, and classes that get to take part will be chosen at random, but he hopes to make the opportunity available to as many students as possible.
The first group to take part was a grade four/five class from St. Gregory Catholic School in Picton, who got a full behind-the-scenes tour of Parliament Hill.
