A Toronto-area woman is making her way through the region today, walking from Toronto to Ottawa, in support of kids whose parents have been incarcerated.
Jessica Reid is walking for Feat For Children, an organization that provides programming to kids whose parents have been incarcerated, mainly at prisons in the GTA, Kingston and Warkworth.
Reid spoke to Quinte News while making her way through Madoc today and says the organization provides a number of valuable services to families who need them.
She added that the cause is hard to gain support for because the children become guilty by association.
Reid is trying to get close to Kingston today and will wrap up her walk on Parliament Hill this coming Monday.
She says she’s hoping Minister of Community Safety and Corrections, Yasir Naqvi may take part in the final kilometre of the journey as she arrives in Ottawa.
