The Wellington Dukes have signed four players from the Greater Ontario Junior “B” Hockey League.
They are forwards Brent House, Brett Schaefer, Matthew Philip and defenceman Nathan MacDuff. House and MacDuff were born in 1997, while Schaefer was born in 1998 and Philip in 1999. Three of the four players attended the Dukes Training Camp in May and were among the top
players through the two-day camp.
House, a 19 year old forward from London exploded offensively in the 15-16 season with the St. Marys Lincolns Jr. B Hockey Club. In 49 games, House led his team with 27 goals, 35 assists and 62 points. Coach/GM Marty
Abrams said House is a big body forward that can put the puck in the net.
Schaefer, an 18 year old native of Kitchener joins the Dukes after a successful freshman campaign with the Waterloo Siskins Jr. B Hockey Club. In 48 games, the speedy forward scored 11 goals, 15 assists and 26 points in the
15-16 season.
Philip, a 17 year old native of Ilderton had an impressive underage season in 15-16 with the Lambton Shores Predators Jr. B Hockey Club. In 35 games, the talented skilled forward posted 20 goals, 9 assists and 29
points last year. Philip will attend the Niagara Ice Dogs camp in August.
MacDuff, a 19 year old defenseman from Welland, Ontario was the team captain of the Welland Canadians Jr. B Hockey Club and will provide additional leadership to the Dukes dressing room. The 6′ 1″, 190 lbs. offensive
defenseman posted 9 goals, 24 assists and 33 points in 50 games.
