While there’s no official direction or order coming from City Hall, the Mayor of Quinte West is hoping residents will take it easy on any unneeded water usage.
Jim Harrison spoke to Quinte News and voiced some concern about a possible drought upcoming, since the forecast for the summer is mainly hot and dry.
The Mayor tells Quinte News, he’s already seeing the effect of weather on local crops and it’s only the start of June.
The Mayor added that he’s not accusing anyone of wasting water, but just wants conservation to be top-of-mind.
Meanwhile, Quinte Conservation has echoed the Mayor’s sentiments by issuing a low water statement for the area as well.
