Following some complaints from the public earlier this month, Quinte West OPP say they’ll be stepping up patrols and enforcement along Harrington Road, which runs east-west between Glen Miller Road and Wallbridge-Loyalist Road.
Residents on the street were concerned about people speeding along the 80 km/h stretch of roadway, so police set up a Speed Spy device to track traffic volume and velocity, between May 9 and 11.
The study tracked 630 vehicles and showed that most drivers were, in fact speeding along Harrington Road, with the highest speed recorded over the two days being 117 km/h.
Police say they’ll be increasing patrols during key times of the day and along with speed, will be looking for the other “Big Four” causes of crashes as well.
