Some green minded Quinte residents took strides towards a greener future yesterday.
Members of the Quinte Biosphere Defenders, joined by local members of Amnesty International and Quinte Grannies For Africa marched through Belleville’s downtown core Saturday, spreading messages about climate change.
The group of just under fifty participants were part of the group that was marching to remind the government that climate change is a real issue.
Lindy Powell, a spokesperson for the group, said that the signing of the Paris Climate Agreement by the Canadian government was great, but there is still a long way to go.
Powell noted that while rain may have dampened attendance, spirits were certainly high with the coloured costumes and props sported by participants.
The walk concluded at the George Street Boat Ramp with a brief celebration.
