Madoc Township is having talks about closing the Madoc and District Recreation Centre.
On Thursday, members of council asked for the numbers on what a closure could save taxpayers.
The arena on Cooper Road is in Madoc Township, but is owned by Centre Hastings.
Township Reeve Robert Sager says the numbers do not lie.
Tom Deline says they were notified by officials in Madoc Township, that they want to look at closing the arena.
Deline says currently they are paying over 80 percent of the cost of the facility, however an agreement between the two municipalities is 60/40.
He adds that all they want is an agreement.
One source to Quinte News says Madoc Township is paying less than 20 percent of the cost, however use the rink at almost the same rate as Centre Hastings residents.
Centre Hastings council has taken legal action against Madoc Township, demanding $187,000 in unpaid bills on the rink.
A report is expected to come back to Madoc Township council in the coming weeks.
