For the first time in franchise history, the Trenton Golden Hawks are Dudley Hewitt Cup champions.
Two weeks after defeating the Georgetown Raiders for the Buckland Cup and Ontario Junior Hockey League Supremacy, the Golden Hawks finished off a 4-0 week in Kirkland Lake with a 4-0 win over the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Soo Thunderbirds.
Lucas Brown notched a natural hat trick and Daniel Urbani stopped 28 shots for the shutout. Quinn Lenihan added the other goal and Liam Morgan picked up two assists.
G-Hawks fan Shelly Dean says she is excited about what a Dudley Hewitt cup championship will bring to the region.
Meanwhile, Golden Hawks co-captain Adam Clements said it was great to win for such great fans and the community.
Trenton’s final stop this season will be in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan for the RBC (Royal Bank) Cup, Canada’s national Junior A championship. The tournament runs May 14 to 22.
