The waters of the Bay of Quinte won’t be quiet for much longer.
At 12:01 this Saturday morning, pike and pickerel season opens, and that means it’s time for the
huge Kiwanis Walleye World Fishing Derby.
Last year, over 4,200 anglers signed up for the derby, and Trenton Kiwanis Club member, Remco DeGooyer expects at least as many to cast their lines this weekend.
There will be all kinds of prizes.
The biggest Walleye caught last year was 12.88 pounds with the largest Pike weighing in at 15.43 pounds.
The derby runs till 4 Sunday afternoon.
