On May 2, 2016 at 6:37 a.m. the Northumberland detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police received a report of an assault that occurred on Grand Road in Campbellford. The female victim advised police that when walking along the sidewalk (near Albert Street) at 6:00 a.m. she was pushed to the ground by a male and assaulted. She suffered non-life threatening injuries that required medical attention at a nearby hospital.
Members of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and K9 attended the area and conducted a search for the suspect which was unsuccessful. He was last seen running south on Grand Road and is described as a white man, 20-40 years old, average build/height, with a large pointed nose, prominent cheek bones wearing blue jeans, a black and blue jacket, black toque and black running shoes.
Members of the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit are assisting with the investigation and would request that any witnesses who might have been traveling on Grand Road between the hours of 5:50-6:10 a.m. this morning contact the Campbellford OPP detachment at 705-653-3300 or toll free 1-888-310-1122.
