Efforts are being made to modestly increase the number of long term care beds available in this part of the province.
The Southeast Local Health Integration Network has submitted a business case to the provincial government asking that a total of 78 beds be made available for seniors.
That number of beds was cut back in 2012.
The Southeast LHIN manages an area from Quinte West up to North Hastings east to Brockville.
Details on where the extra beds might be have not been decided.
Leeds and Grenville and Quinte West have the lowest supply of beds related to demand in the region, while Tyendinaga, Napanee, and Centre Hastings have the highest.
