Belleville homeowners can expect their new property assessment notices in the mail sometime in May.
The overall word for Belleville is that the residential single family home assessment is going up by .8% for 2017 and the condo assessment will drop by 2.9%.
The average single family home is assessed at $204,000, and the condo at $127,000.
MPAC spokesperson Heather Colquhoun says notices start going out May 9.
Homeowners have 120 days to file for the reconsideration.
There is also an appeal process.
Councillor Jackie Denyes questioned Colquhoun about the fact the city pays $599,400 a year for the MPAC service yet candidates in a municipal election cannot access up-to-date information from MPAC.
Colquhoun answered that “a working group is reviewing the system.”
Denyes says she hopes proper figures are available by the time of the next municipal election.
