It seems Quinte Conservation is in an interesting land-ownership situation, when it comes to about 400 metres of shoreline in the Vanderwater Conservation Area, in Thomasburg.
The conservation authority bought the land almost 50 years ago, but found out recently that a stretch of the riverside wasn’t included in the purchase and is actually owned by someone else.
General Manager Terry Murphy tells Quinte News they’re trying to figure out a deal with the new owners.
One of the problems to be sorted out is where the boy scouts will camp, since they typically use the area for their annual jamboree.
There are also some issues with access to the property since its owners have to cross Quinte Conservation land to get to it.
Murphy says, if necessary down the line, Quinte Conservation might look into buying back the property in question.
