Brighton fire crews have easily dealt with a three-to-five acre brush fire this afternoon.
Firefighters responded to a marshy area near County Road 30 and Goodfellow Road, around 2:00 this afternoon and were working for about two hours.
Brighton Fire Chief Lloyd Hutchinson tells Quinte News they had to work quickly as soon as they arrived.
Hutchinson says nobody was around, so they’re not sure what sparked the blaze.
With that in mind, he’s urging anyone who’s thinking about having an open-air burn this weekend, to contact their municipality and make sure they have the valid permits.
He says if you have an unauthorized burn, you could face charges.
You can check your local municipal website, or call your town hall, to find out about open-air burning rules in your area.
