Tuition fees are going up the maximum allowed at Loyalist College. Yesterday, Loyalist’s Board of Governors passed their budget which features a 3 % increase in full time tuition fees.
Extra charges for special purposes will go up an average of 5.7 %, or about $64.00 per full time student.
The Board passed a balanced budget of $56 million which it will send on to the province for final approval.
As part of the process, 2 courses will be shut down as soon as possible. Those are the 1 year Sports Journalism and 2 year
Advertising and Marketing Communications courses.
A new course is being added to the roster, though. It is a 1 year Chemical, Biological, Radiation, and Nuclear Certificate program.
In a press release, the Loyalist College Board says the budget will allow for continuing efforts to recruit more international students for the school.
