The City of Belleville is moving forward with designs and drawings for renovations to Belleville’s Yardmen Arena.
At a meeting of council Thursday morning, members voted unanimously in favour of a contract for $450,000 to have Architecture49, an Ottawa based design company, produce drawings.
Work proposed for the site will include removal of the existing floor surface, safe disposal of the brine under the concrete, installation of glycol sub-floor, replacement of the chiller and installation of a new arena floor and new boards.
We asked Belleville Mayor Taso Christopher if the renovations have any connection to the relocation of a hockey team.
Without confirming anything to Quinte News, Mayor Taso Christopher remains hopeful something will get done.
Another $60,000 was also approved to the capital budget for pre-design work done by the company.
No extra seating or boxes are a part of the current proposal.
Mayor Taso Christopher expects a report from the designer to come back in 60-90 days.
The City of Belleville is in discussions with an unknown team about possible relocation.
A Non-Disclosure Agreement and a Letter of Interest have been signed by both parties and no other details are known at this time.
