One firefighter was injured during a fire at a well known cheese factory in the Quinte area.
Firefighter crews were called to Maple Dale Cheese on highway 37 around 7:30 a.m, after a blaze started in the roof of the boiler room.
Members from Belleville, Tyendinaga Township and Tyendinaga Mohawk fire departments ripped open the roof and shot down the flames in less than an hour.
Belleville Deputy Fire Chief Bruce Greatrix sets structural damage around $10,000, while there was contamination for $54,000 worth of milk.
Maple Dale Owner Keith Henry was thankful for the crews’ work on site.
The member that was injured after falling from a ladder on site, however, his injuries are said to be non-life threatening.
Maple Dale Cheese remains open today.
