The Prince Edward County group fighting to stop the clearing of land for a 27 turbine wind farm
has won a skirmish in an ongoing battle to stop the development.
Late yesterday, the Environmental Review Tribunal granted an “interim stay” which will force
WPD White Pines to stop work on the property.
A report in County Live says the Tribunal granted the interim stay pending resolution of the Alliance to Protect Prince Edward County’s original motion to stop the clearing permanently because of dangers to the habitat of the Blanding’s Turtle and Little Brown Bats.
The Tribunal is scheduling further hearings on the matter.
The victory for APPEC comes 2 days after the organization withdrew a motion at the Ontario Court of Appeal on a technical matter. Immediately after that APPEC lawyer Eric Gillespie filed with the Env Review Tribunal.
