It won’t be long before more and more businesses and residents in the southern section of Hastings County can expect to have access to hi-speed internet service.
The province provided a grant of 452-thousand dollars to help bring the service to Stirling-Rawdon, Centre Hastings, Tweed and Tyendinaga Township. The service provider Barrett Explornet picks up the rest of the one-point-three million dollar cost. The plan is to use two existing towers and build a new one at the Lonsdale site. Oak Hills tower went into service in February, Stoco Lake tower expected this month and the Lonsdale tower in Tyendinaga Township should be operational midsummer. This project is separate from the one in which Hastings County is working with the Eastern Ontario Wardens and Ottawa to provide hi-speed internet service in the more northerly section of the county.
