New town-house developments near Meyer’s Pier in Belleville have helped fuel more than eight-million dollars in building activity in the city.
Permits for a 14-thousand square foot building, worth 1.2-million dollars, and one at 98-hundred square feet, valued at 790-thousand, were issued last month. They are part of the residential development on South Church and South Front Streets, just south of Saint Paul Street.
Chief Building Official Ted Maracek says Old Navy at Quinte Mall also received a permit for half-a-million dollars in interior renovations. They were among 86 projects worth 8.3-million dollars given the green light in Belleville last month. There has been 53-million dollars in construction activity so far this year, compared to 19-million at this time in 2009.
