The team once known as the Belleville Bulls has cut a significant tie to its past.
After one year with the re-located OHL team, George Burnett has been fired as Coach and General Manager of the Hamilton Bulldogs. The move was expected after the team missed the playoffs in their inaugural season in Hamilton.
Burnett led the franchise for 12 years, including 11 in Belleville. He joined the Bulls after 4 seasons with Oshawa and various pro teams including the Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim Ducks.
Bulldogs President Steve Staios takes over the G.M.’s duties. A coach has not been named but it’s expected it will be Hamilton native Troy Smith, who was an associate coach under Burnett.
