About 545 of the more than 115,000 people on Ontario’s Sunshine List for 2015, live in the Quinte Region.
City of Belleville – 126
In the City of Belleville there are 126 people, who made more than $100,000 in 2015.
About 61 of them are officers or staff with the Belleville Police Service, 48 or so work with the Belleville Fire Department and the rest are municipal employees.
Police Chief Cory MacKay tops the list at $191,601.59 and Chief Administrative Officer Rick Kester was next at $170,115.20.
There are a couple of doctors with the Belleville and Quinte West Community Health Centre making more than $267,000.
Prince Edward County – 12
There were far fewer names on the Prince Edward County Sunshine List.
CAO Merlin Dewing was the highest earner, making $234,021.20, followed by the head of engineering and special projects Joseph Angelo, at $153,735.60.
There were a couple other members of the PEC municipal staff making around $140,000.
Fire Chief Scott Manlow made $119,584.02.
City of Quinte West – 26
The City of Quinte West has 26 people on the sunshine list this year, led by Chief Administrative Officer Charlie Murphy, making $152,851 last year
Director of Corporate and Financial Services David Clazie came in next at $143,794 and there were a handful of other employees in the $130,000 range.
Fifteen firefighters were on the list with Chief John Whelan bringing in $132,558.
Hastings County – 19
Top of the list in Hastings County is Chief Administrative Officer Jim Pine who made $213,954 in 2015.
Acting Director of Emergency Services John O’Donnell came next with $146, 594, followed by Director of Emergency Services Doug Socha (on secondment) at $141,644.
Director of Social Services Steve Gatward made $140,195 last year.
Hastings Prince Edward School Board – 94
The Principal at the Sagonaska Demonstration School tops the Sunshine List for employees of the Hastings and Prince Edward School Board.
Martin Smit earned $214,254 in 2015, while the second highest earner was Director of Education Mandy Savery-Whiteway, earning $206,990.
Superintendent of Education Patricia Fitzgibbon is the only employee in the $170,000 range, with a bunch in the $160,000 range.
The next group of high earners with the school board falls in the $130,000 range.
Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic School Board
In the local catholic school board, Director of Education Jody Dirocco made $204,150.
That’s followed by the board’s superintendents whose salaries range from $160,000 up to $172,137.
Most of the high-earners in the Catholic board were principals and vice principals of various schools.
Quinte Health Care – 104
Not much of a surprise that Quinte Health Care had one of the longer lists of employees earning more than $100,000 last year.
CEO Mary-Clare Egberts brought in more than $304,000, one of the highest earners in the area.
The drop from there is quite substantial with the next highest earner being Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Brad Harrington at $183,562, with the other VP Jeff Hohenkerk not far behind.
The highest paid Registered nurse was Kathleen Cummings, making $167,493.
Southeast Local Heath Integration Network – 12
In the Southeast LHIN CEO Paul Huras earned $331,945 in 2015, the other CEO Jacqueline Redmond made $294,995.
The highest paid physician in the local LHIN is Sandra McIntosh, at $209,819.
The rest of the list is made up mostly of various directors and other staff.
Hastings and Prince Edward Counties Health Unit – 12
Rounding out the healthcare field is the local health unit, which equalled the number of high-earners at the LHIN.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Richard Schabas made $242,38 to top the list, followed by Director of Health Protection Erik Serwotka at $141,028.
A pair of health unit directors were next on the list, making around $125,000 to $130,000 and most of the health unit’s directors made between $100,000 and $120,000.
Loyalist College – 77
Rounding things out is the rather long list of high-earners at Loyalist College.
College President and CEO Maureen Piercy, unsurprisingly topped the list, at $255,607.92.
Three other senior staff members made between $140,000 and $188,000, while the school’s deans seemed to make salaries in the $130,000 range.
The highest paid professor was Gail Orr, in the nursing program, who brought in $121,500 last year.
