Studies to begin in May will examine claims that giant wind turbines near Lake Huron are interfering with flight paths of bats and birds.
Suncor’s Jason Vaillant says a bird and bat monitoring program at the company’s Cedar Point Wind Energy Centre will last for six months.
He says the monitoring will take place at a minimum of 14 turbines selected in consultation with the Ministry of Natural Resources and data will be used to track mortality rates.
Suncor will also replant a woodland damaged during construction of the project when warmer weather arrives in the spring.
