A Prince Edward County businessman is following through on his financial commitment to the proposed PEC splash pad.
Michael Hymus has committed a total of $200,000 to the project, which is planned to be built behind the skate park, at the Picton Fairgrounds.
The first $100,000 will be paid in three $33,000 installments, with organizers trying to raise a total of $250,000 just for construction costs.
Then once the splash pad is completed, Hymus has offered another $10,000 per year, for 10 years to offset operational costs.
The splash pad committee’s Susan Quaiff says their next fundraising event is a loonie auction on April 16th and they’re hoping to have enough money to get the splash pad built by 2017.
