We have an update on the fire that destroyed a house and garage on Point Anne Lane in the far east end of Belleville late last month.
The Belleville fire department has determined that the cause was accidental, and was likely caused by undetermined electrical issues.
The fire started in the garage. There had been a power outage before the fire started on February 25, there had been power surges, and it appears a backup generator in the garage may not have been installed to exact manufacturer’s instructions.
No one was injured in the fire, but firefighters had to rescue a woman from an upstairs apartment unit.
