The Fraser Institute, a privately funded think-tank, has released its annual rankings of Ontario Secondary
Schools.
The rankings are gleaned from the results of tests in math and literacy given to grade 9 students.
Again, the highest ranked school in Ontario is St. Michaels Choir of Toronto, with a 9.7 out of 10.
Locally, the highest ranked secondary school is Belleville’s Nicholson Catholic, sitting 176th out of 676 schools,
with a 7.2 score. The second highest local school is St. Paul Catholic of Trenton, ranking 289th out of 676 with
a 6.5. St. Theresa Catholic sits at 415 with a 5.7.
Among secondary schools in the Hastings Prince Edward public board, Bayside is again ranked number one, sitting
at 305 out of 676 with a 6.4. Centennial and Moira Secondary schools finish behind with a 5.8 and 5.7 score
respectively.
At the bottom of the rankings are Quinte, North Hastings, and Trenton with a 3.9, 3.8, and 3.5 score respectively.
In East Northumberland County, East Northumberland Secondary in Brighton and Campbellford High School are one, two, and
sitting in the middle of the pack with scores of 6.4 and 6.3.
