The newly-elected MP for Bay of Quinte Riding has some added responsibilities as parliament resumes in the Nation’s Capital.
Neil Ellis was appointed as chair of the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs, on Tuesday morning in Ottawa.
Ellis tells Quinte News the government is responsible for about 200,000 of Canada’s 700,000-plus veterans and he’s looking forward to getting some added help for those men and women in uniform.
Ellis says having CFB Trenton in the riding makes the appointment even more important.
He added the committee will likely come into play as plans for a veterans medical centre move forward at Trenton Memorial Hospital as well.
